Is chocolate healthy?
Chocolate is one of the most comfort food, it is the best friend in times of stress and a dependable source of consolation when life let us down. It changes our mood 180 degrees and induces romance in much better circumstances. But the main question here is whether eating chocolate is healthy or not?
This is well known; even if certain food is very useful for health, you should take care of amount you intake from it. Eating chocolate is recently proven to be very beneficial. Actually not all types of chocolate are the same, but dark chocolate with a cocoa percentage about seventy percent or more is the best.

New studies found that dark chocolate helps to restore flexibility to arteries. Also it prevents white blood cells from striking to the blood vessels walls. 

  • Reduces risk of stroke:

Finland researchers have reported that consuming chocolate can lower the risk of suffering from stroke. This fact was scientifically tested there.

  • Rich in minerals:

Dark chocolate is full of many useful minerals such as potassium, zinc and selenium. Scientists proved that a 100 gram bar of dark chocolate gives the body about 67 percent of the RDA of iron. 

  • Reduces cholesterol:

Eating chocolate especially the dark one can lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases because it reduces levels of bad cholesterol and raises levels of good cholesterol.


The flavonols in dark chocolate is very important for your skin because it can protect the skin from sun damage. This information doesn’t mean going out without putting some sun cream.


Neuroscientists said that when you eat a small square of good chocolate before a meal by around 20 minutes, this would trigger hormones in the brain and give the feeling of being full.  

  • Good for mothers and babies:

Of course chocolate supports moms because it reduces stress. Babies of such mothers smile more than other babies. 

  • Prevent diabetes:

This is not crazy; cocoa has been shown to be responsible for improving insulin sensitivity. So eat dark chocolate in moderation to delay or prevent diabetes.  

  • Good for the brain:

Flavonols are reported to reduce memory loss in old people. Besides, it has anti-inflammatory qualities that can treat brain injuries like concussion.

  • Make you feel better:


Chocolate contains phenyl ethylamine which is the same chemical in your brain that creates feeling in love. This chemical encourages your brain to release endorphin which gives us the “good” feel and this is why we feel happy with each chocolate bite.   
Researches didn’t stop after all the previous scientifically proved benefits as eating chocolate showed to be very important. Take one bar of dark chocolate and get all the above benefits and more. Remember, the raw materials of chocolate were grown carefully by farmers. That’s why it is very good for soul because anything is made with love, gives love. Eating chocolate is a proof that you love yourself.
